Scandinavian style city hall

Originally the design brought together a square and a rectangle with a 50m high tower at their meeting point. The architect G. Friedhoff clearly was inspired by Scandinavian architecture and even now after extensions and other changes the structure still very much looks like the Stockholm city hall. Completed in 1933 the assigment was considered very successful as the client (the municipal authorities) did not want city hall to look opulent.
