Historical church, beautiful views

A great local church filled with rich history. In the summer they offer tours in English! Definitely worth a pit stop on a road trip.

    Unique, interesting, and free
The paintings on the wall and wooden carvings next to the altar are very unique. One of my ancestors and her family (former pastor) are in a painting on the wall. Another of my ancestors (also a pastor there) whitewashed over the wall paintings in the 1600s. It wasn't until the 1800s that they were re-discovered. Isokyrö is unique--the Cudgel war started here and the leaders were executed nearby. The last battle of the Great Northern War (battle of Napue) was fought just east of town and the Russians used this church as a stable for their horses.

    Stunning Old Church
Beautiful old church on the banks of the river, Its outside is marvelous and the inside is covered in biblical scenes. Just stunning, dating back to the 1500s (and the wooden one there before that dated to the 1300s) The day we visited, there was a young lady there as a host who was very pleasant and knowledgable
