    Fun zoo
When here, with our son and granddaughter on a Monday and had a wonderful time, Sue is very walkable the exhibits are laid out very well and there is quite a lot to see. The train ride was very fun, especially for young children. It’s not very long, but it is enjoyable. There is an extra charge for the train ride at five dollars a person. it is important to get there early as the parking lot does fill up quickly and to buy tickets before going as they are timed tickets so you cannot just walk in and get tickets and go in. Enjoyed stopping and getting some very good coffee at the entrance as well.

Zoo is good, BUT DO NOT GET SCAMMED ON THE "TRAIN RIDE" !!
We haven't been to the zoo since before the pandemic. The renos look good, but it is reflected in the increased rates. It is still reasonable for a few hour visit. We came during spring break and parking was atrocious! We had to park in the far lots, luckily we dropped off my parents who have mobility issues. They had a disabled parking pass, and there were lots of spots designated for the pass, but all those spots were taken in the first 3 lots ! I would say come late morning before lunch to beat the crowds that had lunch first. Or maybe it was just during spring break.... But the disappointing factor was the "train ride". It was $5 or $6 per person and I don't think there was a kid rate. The "ride" was like a few minutes long, it went down the backside of one small portion of the zoo, where we could see the elephants from quite a distance and then went back the same route, We barely saw any animals on this ride. The staff was very apologetic explaining most of the tracks/ ride was damaged and under construction. This is fine, but that should be known before we pay.! We could hear most of the other guests disgruntled as we all left feeling duped! It's not expensive per se, but our group of 10 paid 50-60 bucks, when we could have used the money toward a treat each instead. That would have been more worth it! Shame, Oregon Zoo! Don't go tricking people like that!
