Belle Starr's gravesite

If you enjoy visiting grave sites of famous people this is cool. It's on private property and easiest to locate using the gps coordinates. There is a very nice sign and historical marker at the trailhead. The trail is less than 100 yards but you might wonder when it will end since it is on a wooded path that goes up and down rolling hills. It's a nice walk. It tells you to enter at your own risk so stay on the path. If you are facing the grave from the trail, the house appears to have been on the left hand side where there are old stones. You can see where the Canadian river once ran through the property before the Dam was built. Fun quick trip. Not too many people can say they have been here.

Great Adventure to Find Grave of Belle Starr
I was reminded of Belle Starr while on a tour of Fort Smith Historical Site. It peaked my interest, so next day I took off for Younger's Bend of the Canadian River site of Belle Starr's grave. Took Hwy 40 west from Fort Smith. Took exit 278 Turned left onto Hwy 2 thru Porum to intersection of Hwy 71 turn right. Took HWY 71 for approx. 5 or 6 miles and found gravel road and Younger's Bend Historical Marker on right side of road. Went up trail and found it went left and right, Stay left. The right goes to the House on the Site, not the grave. Walk about 50 to 75 yards and there is the Grave of Belle Starr. I do love Western History. If you like Western History, this will be an exciting find for you. The trail is not well marked, but at the point where it looks like you could go left or right, Just stay Left. A reminder, this is private property and it is a Historical Site so please treat it with Respect. Enjoy your adventure, I sure did.

    Resting Place of Bell Starr
If you like history of the old west you know about Bell Starr, the Younger s and the Dalton's. This is the home of Bell Starr and her grave site. The site is on privet land so be nice, you will have a short walk to the grave and you might do a little resurch so you understand it all. There are plans to rebuild the house but as of 01/2015 it is just a pile of stones.
