Historic Old Round Barn on Route 66

We were in the area to check out a few places in Arcadia, Oklahoma. We stopped to check out this part of history. We parked across the street but then saw they have a parking lot behind the Red Round Barn. There were a few other visitors but the place is big and we could easily move around to read about the things we saw. Interesting architecture inside of the Round Barn. Lot of cool items. They have restrooms, (neither of us used), so I can not comment on cleanliness. They also have some items for sale, like a yard sale as well as gift shop items. You have to go up stairs to enter the Barn and it was rather hot up there. It did not take us long to see everything. Glad we stopped to check it out.

The Old Round Barn is Worth a Short Stop on Route 66
The Old Round Barn is another classic roadside attraction along Route 66. There is a sign identifying it as such. We wanted to take it in as we checked off items on our Route 66 tour. There is free parking across from or behind the barn. The barn is free to visit (good will donation suggested). The outer grounds we're well cared for with nice flowers and foliage. The barn is open 10-5. The lower level is a combination museum, flea market and gift shop. If not crowded, you can wander at your leisure. You can go to the upper level which is often used for events. We watched the set up for an anniversary party while we were there. Great interior and exterior shots. Definitely worth the stop but doesn't require a long stay. Restrooms are available. The Richardson Building which contains a shop filled with interesting items is just down the hill and Pops the soda store is just down the road.

    Basket-weave looking dome
Built in 1898 this historic barn that is on Route 66 was originally made of native bur oak and is the only round barn on Route 66. Climb the stairs to the beautifully restored intricate basket-weave woven-look beautiful domed roof. Outside are some vintage farm equipment. Inside the first floor is an extensive gift shop with information related to the barn. Entrance to the barn building is free, though there is a suggested donation. Restrooms are on site in a separate building. Good stop.
