Nice little stop

Venture over to Stockyard City while visiting OKC. Several near shops to wander thru with lots of different goodies and a restaurant that seemed to be quite popular. There wasn’t much going on at the stockyards when we stopped so at the most we spent 2 hours wandering the area.

    Imagine 9000 cattle at auction...
My wife and I visited the OKC National Stockyard on a non-sale day in January 2020. It was very quiet and we were able to walk around unfettered. We can only image how this place would be on a sale day, Wednesday a reported “up to 9000” animals are bought and sold. We recommend you climb the stairs to the elevated platform (you’ll see it) and walk across all the pens. This is an interesting part of the city and well worth your visit.

    WOW! Expansive and very interesting.
My friends and I walked around on a non-sale day and we enjoyed seeing all the cattle as they were loaded in the chutes/pens. It’s amazing how big the area is..... I can’t only imagine going on a sale day (MON/TUES). We did see trucks loaded up for a 1/2 mile waiting to offload cattle. Definitely don’t miss this place.
