Boyhood Home

Worth a quick stop for a photo if you are in the area. The red barn does not appear well, it's looks like it will likely fall over soon. You can see a bit inside the house through the front door.

Worth the stop if you are a fan..
My excited husband and true Yankee fan was happy to see this site. See the barn where Mickey practice is worth the effort to stop in this town of Commerce.

    Connecting with a Childhood Hero
The home is not in good shape as an exhibit. However the barn is a classic. You can stand there and hear the balls hitting the old tin whenever the six year old Mickey missed on his swing. Or glass shatter at the house when he broke a window with a line drive. It is easy to understand why the tremendously talented Mantle was such an humble player and so well liked. He never forgot his beginnings and let his stardom get to his head. Visiting here is a step back in time.
