What a wonderful surprise!
HAR-BER VILLAGE MUSEUM is a seasonal (third Saturday in March thru first Saturday in November) pioneer-era village and history museum located on the shores of Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in Oklahoma. Visitors experience the area's history and ecology through self-guided tours. Antiques, collectibles and reproductions are displayed in exhibitions representing the mid-1800s to the early 1900s in the local four-state region (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas). Several of the Village's HISTORIC BUILDINGS were relocated to the grounds, including a schoolhouse, jail and 16 log cabins. Other log structures were built to house collections and are typical for the mid-to-late 1800s-a courthouse, a bank, a stagecoach inn and a church built with bricks hand-made before the Civil War. Other replicated buildings include a mercantile, jail and hanging gallows, a doctor's and a dentist's office, print shop, post office, drug store and more. We also have Nature Trails!

Very Well Done!
I highly recommend a visit here! We visited today (Monday, 8/29) and we were practically the only people here. I thought the weather was great (just a little hot). The price was good too. Only $10. Well worth it! Very well done! The restaurant is not open on Monday.

Wow! Glad we stopped and took the class.
We went here two days, one day to take a Stained Glass Window class, it was very fun, the instructor was amazing and we learned allot...and we have allot to learn! We came back the second day to do the museum, it was amazing, very well done, easy to navigate through and see everything in a few hours. It is mainly outside and the view of the lake is amazing. A broom maker and blacksmith was there the day we were there, we bought a couple cast iron scrubbers from the broom maker, they were very interesting and informative. The gift shop was great! Found a few items for the grandkids and a cookbook for myself, there were having an amazing sale. We also ate at the cafe that is onsite, the food was delicious, I had the pecan crusted chicken salad that was very good. Was a great stop about half way through the museum to grab a bite to eat. We got there when they opened at 9AM and left about 2PM (that is including time for lunch). The view of the lake is amazing and the displays are very well done, I think you could keep children engaged as well since it is outside and they can go from display to display while being outside. The displays were behind glass, so no worries on littles grabbing or touching things. There were a few hands on things, we played a game in the saloon, there were several games provided. And there was an outdoor chess game that would have been fun. There were displays of just about anything you could think of, kept all of us interested!
