You gotta go here

It’s tempting to pass this up even though it is right next door to the majestic Chickasaw Courthouse. It has - inside - the original Council House (us pale-faces call it a courthouse). Yes the actual, real, original log Council House. Originally it was over in now Milburn where the Chickasaw White House is. Emma was our guide. She is amazing. She is not only elegant and knowledgeable but very humbled by her Chickasaw heritage. I learned more from her than anyone else concerning the early day Chickasaws. She even knew the burial customs. I had asked this question at the other various Chickasaw places I visited and received conflicting information. Buy your souvenirs here. I did. Best selection and moderately priced. Thank you my new ehoo Indian friend Ima aka Emma.

A place to learn more about the Chickasaw People.
We took some friends with us to see the Capital building and was told abou the Council House Museum. We all decided to go there also and was so glad we did. It was a great place to learn about the history of the Chickasaw people. We had a wonderful guide that told us everything we ever wondered about and more. It would be a great place to take the time to go and visit. Kids would love to go there also because of all the things to see. They also have a gift shop that is full of interesting items. Go and make a day of it. You will be glad you did.
