Lots of choices close to the downtown business district

Bricktown, just east of Oklahoma City’s downtown business district, is the city’s original warehouse and distribution center turned entertainment district. You can go shopping, drink at a bar, dine at one of the many restaurants, and stroll along the Bricktown River Walk Park at your own pace. You can also catch a baseball game at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark or have fun on the sands of Bricktown Beach on summer days. The area is home to a plethora of public art, museums, and galleries, making it one of Oklahoma City’s most vibrant arts districts and a great attraction year-round. – Tripadvisor

Lots of choices close to the downtown business district
Lots of interesting restaurants and bars in this arts and entertainment district - Bricktown. Only blocks from where we stayed at the historic - and wonderfully redone - Skirvin Hilton. We decided to try happy hour at Crabtown, a local seafood/Creole/Cajun restaurant and bar. If was a Thursday night sip not too busy at 4:30 but got busier as folks got off work. $5 specials on several mixed drinks such as Margaritas and Mai’s. Beer and wine specials too. We had the special priced bucket of peel and eat shrimp and a crab cake apiece. Tasty, fresh and good value. We stayed for almost 2 hours as we chatted with others at the bar. Bricktown is only about a half mile walk from the downtown business district and we felt safe walking at night.

Bricktown is definitely a cool part of OKC
I stayed at the Hyatt Place on a Friday night, getting there right before the end of a baseball game that culminated with an impressive fireworks show, beginning a vibrant evening of happy enjoyment. I walked around briefly, noticing a strip club, dance club, several bars and eateries, and chose one at random. The Indian taco that I took back to my room was okay but the people I encountered were so chill; one girl behind the bar took my order but then I saw her and a coworker/friend have a shot, then walk out and sit among the patrons. When she saw my confusion she said that her shift had ended but offered to buy me a drink, which I politely declined. In the meantime I spied a couple enjoying some great looking wings, and when I said I should have ordered those the guy offered me one; again I politely declined. All the while a guitar playing performer was covering tunes by Travis Tritt, Bob Seger, and several other good rockers. It was a fun, high energy night.
