"X" Tour

We had a family reunion in Hocking Hills over the July 4th holiday and booked the "X" Tour. Justin and Raquel were AWESOME guides and really made the experience great - there is a little bit of downtime while you're waiting on the platform and they did a great job of telling stories and asking questions to get to know us all better. I was nervous to zip-line because I am not a fan of heights; however, the guides made me feel comfortable and after a few of the lines I was jumping off without a worry in the world. I would definetly recommend this tour if you're visiting the area!

    Great guides, beautiful scenery!
THE GUIDES: Skyler and Kylee were excellent guides. As the person bringing up the rear, Kylee was responsible for clipping us all into each zip line. She did a great job of talking to everyone, calming any jittery nerves, and encouraging folks to face their fears once she saw them getting a little confidence on the course. In particular she did a fantastic job of interacting with my son, who’d bailed on our last attempt at ziplining and was initially very anxious about this attempt. Skyler, as the lead, kept up the usual tour guide banter of bad puns (which, as a dad, I appreciate) while making sure we all came to safe stops and knew how to operate our equipment. THE SETTING: The scenery was picturesque wooded, rolling hills, but my favorite platforms were those along the Hocking River. I loved the listening and watching the water flow lazily underneath us. There were many times were I very much felt like I was zipping right through the trees, which isn’t always a given on these tours. All in all we very much enjoyed our two hours flying through Hocking Hill’s rolling woods and river. Thanks Canopy Tours!

Do The Night Run when available ! Need a better check in system and waiting area !
I overall had a good experience zip lining for the first time. We were super lucky to get the night zip (highly recommend) it seemed like a good idea, and it was. They tell you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your zip we arrived at 8:00 pm because our reservation was at 8:30 pm - not my favorite part . They should tell you to arrive around 10:00 pm the guides wait until it’s very dark out , since you want to get the whole experience , if that’s the case you should arrive at 10:00 pm we ended up waiting and they did not have anything for us really to do. They have a bag game set up and a couple of picnic tables but it would have been cool if they set up a drink station for after or snacks in bags (quarantine) more large yard games. Bring bug spray my husband got bitten by a ton of mosquitoes while we waited. My other concern is for me I never zip lined before. The line you practice is not at all accurate to the teach you how to stop at the actual speed you will be going. It’s a very basic quick learn and you do it once not even enough times to get comfortable. The best thing I could recommend is the time you spend waiting they have you run on a real line to get the feel for it and practice for real stopping. You do get three warm up runs but it’s not where you should be practicing the stopping. You also get 4 runs at night so a total of 7 vs the 11 in a day run. I also understand it was in the dark so we couldn’t grab pictures of the experience but they should work on that as well - we paid $100.00 a person. The night zip is breathtaking , and it is worth it but it’s not a “VIP experience” they could flood the trees with glow sticks or paint the trees with neon glows so your eyes don’t trip out but still has more of an experience vs the little glow straps on your helmet. Super intense ! Beautiful views of the moon and stars and fireflies. Pretty big drops , and it goes very fast. I learned the hard way. Our guides Claire and Ronnie were awesome and so was the group we went with. I would zip with them any day of the week. Such sweet people. It was a good experience minus a couple of things I would go again.
