Great for walking and building dams!!
We stayed at camping Pyrenees Natura in Estaing and went here a few times. Lovely lake with amazing views, great walk and a river that allows for fantastic dam building. It is much less touristy than many other parts of Pyrenees and has often a local cheese seller setting up a table with goat cheeses.

Idyllic Lake
We visited Lac d’Estaing whilst holidaying in the Pyrenees. This is one of the most beautiful places we have visited. The mountain setting is idyllic and the scenery incredible. Excellent for hiking with many trails leading into the mountains. The lake is stunning & our dog loved swimming in the calm waters. Plenty of wild life to see including birds of prey circling the peaks. Nice restaurant, shop & bar at the end of the lake to refresh tired legs.

Wonderful area for walking
Camped at the Pyrenees Natura site for 3 nights which was excellent and worth the top of the range fees. Walked a section of the GR10 towards Lac Ilheou and the next day heading in the National Parc des Pyrenees. Hotel Restaurant du Lac d'Estaing highly recommended for meals (awaiting listing to do review).
