Don't miss this 1898 firehouse, history collection or current exhibit
The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest converted this 1898 firehouse into a perfect venue for their collections. The building itself (opened in 2017) is fascinating as they were able to restore many features of the original firehouse. The current exhibit: "The Legacy of Fair Housing" provides a multi-faceted view of the 1968 Fair Housing Ordinance, one of many historical events that make Oak Park unique.

    History Museum is Spot ON
We enjoyed going to Oak Park's History Museum's new digs. Located appropriately located in an ancient fire house. Quite a collection for one of Chicago's oldest suburbs. Well worth the visit.
