Perfect for Early Morning Walks
My wife and I recently vacationed at the Aulani Resort which is located next to one of the Ko'Olina lagoons. Every morning, just after sunrise, I left the resort by the beach entrance and journeyed along the paved walkway that connects the lagoons. The walk was easy and I met many friendly folks. The morning views of the area were awesome and the walks were invigorating. It was fun walking past the yoga groups and the various swimming groups. During the weekday mornings I enjoyed listening to a group of about 30 to 40 locals who formed a Ukulele band. They were there bright and early during the weekdays but not on the weekend. The band was located near the end of the walkway close to the entrance to the Ko'Olina Marina. Unfortunately I never stayed too long listening to the band so I have no idea how long they play every morning. The lagoons are beautiful and there are parking lots near the lagoons although the parking lot sizes varied. There are also public rest rooms. The area is clean and well maintained.

Worth a Visit
We visited lagoon 4, which from an aerial view appears to be the smallest of them. The lagoon was plenty big enough for us to be able to swim without being crowded unlike Waikiki. The lagoon is definitely calm so there was no use for our boogie boards. We did bring goggles and so glad we did! We were able to swim and see so many beautiful fish, this was literally one of the highlights, besides the amazing sunset. Lagoon 4 does not have security, lifeguards, or any chairs/umbrellas which made for a nice quiet day at the beach. Bathrooms were clean and they have outdoor showers to wash up. We picnicked up on the grass and then went down into the lagoon for a total of about 3-4 hrs.
