Excellent offerings especially Shangri La
One of the world’s premier art museums presents international caliber special exhibitions and features a collection that includes Hokusai, van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Picasso and Warhol, as well as traditional Asian and Hawaiian art. Another great stop on our downtown Honolulu night.
We spent a fun Friday evening in downtown Honolulu, as we utilized the bus service from our hotel. Our initial stop was at a downtown brewery, and then we migrated to this lovely art museum before a cocktail night at Bar Leather Apron. The artwork provided a nice respite between our libations, and it made us wishing that we had more time. However, it was pertinent to have reservations for our meals. The museum provided lockers for our belongings, and the exhibits offered a valuable insight into the history of indigenous cultures in relation to Hawaii.

Nice museum, but the Shangri-La add-on ticket is a must
This museum was very cool in the way it was organized, with the courtyards and the different galleries. It was a surprise that there were so many cool things to look at. With that said, the best part of visiting is the add-on ticket to visit Shangri-La, Doris Duke's estate. Advance tickets for Shangri-La are required and sell out quickly during busy times.
