My favorite place in Nova Scotia, Canada

If you like sea side atmosphere and a touch of history, this place will romance you into staying. There is a restored lighthouse there which is open to the public, and a Park where one can watch the tides coming and going.

The magic of shape-shifting as the tide changed the scenery hourly!
We found many gifts along the beach, sea-glass, beautiful shells, dulse, mussels and wild caraway. A local pulled up in a small boat and handed us a huge bucket of flounder that we ate that night on the beach, over an open bon-fire while watching the light change. The fresh air had us relaxed and sleepy so an early bed time had us up and too lazy to cook breakfast so we wandered over to the Beach Cafe' for a fantastic breakfast. The Cafe' was the original general store of the area and oozes charm. Very relaxed and a great outdoor deck so we didn't have to waste one minute indoors. Next time we are going to treat ourselves to one of the new cabins on the beach so we can spend less time getting ready and more time exploring. They have everything! We'll be back!! Bring beach shoes, your appetite and a sweater for the evenings.

    Mystically unforgettable
Spencer's Island and Advocate Harbour have a pull which is inexplicable and deep. They draw artists and travellers from all over the globe and impart a sense of calm, serenity and belonging. On top of that, imagine warm winds through poplars, sun glinting on ocean waves, fishing boats and wide expanses of ancient, untouched beach, hulking red cliffs. High end restaurants - yes, it's true and they are exceptional. A film festival, world renowned trail systems in an enormous ocean-side provincial park, kayaking, ghost ships, jurassic history, and a location which was named solely for its breathtaking sunsets: Cape d'Or - Cape of gold. Stop and talk with one of the extraordinary people make this place their home, or camp overnight on the beach campground or beautiful red cottage impossibly close to the incoming tide, and try to tell yourself that you're ready to leave. It won't be easy.
