In July 2010 I went sailing to Lake Ladoga for 4 days. I contacted Ilaks travel agency and they organized the trip. All I had to do is to arrive in Saint-Petersburg. At the railwaystation Ilaks' guide met me and other travelers. We took a three-hour-train. Before going on the boat, we had a snack first and then we got our equipment (tents, sleeping bags, mats and life-jackets). In four days we sailed around islands, camping here and there. The stuff cooked us a very delicious food. On Ladoga one can never be sure about the weather. I was lucky! Not a drop. The stuff was fantastic! They played the guitar, sang, helped around (I couldn't figure out how to put the tent). Maybe 4 days is a bit too short time. Next time I'll take a ten-day-trip.

Leisure
This is one of the breath taking trip. Its so natural and so beatuful. You can fill your lungs with fresh oxygen. Lake Ladoga is full of small islands with pine trees, clear water. We had 2 hr boat trip on Lake ladoga arranged by this tour operator . The calm serenity and the vastness of the lake provides a very relaxing atmosphere. This trip is recommended for the Nature lovers.

Great lake
This lake is just gorgeous! I would compare it with Lake Superior in Minnesota. Similar nature and similar views. For those who travel to Karelia, I would highly recommend to take a boat trip.
