All the amber
Before I came to Kaliningrad I had no idea that such a huge percentage of worlds amber derived from this region. It's crazy to think about 300 million years how a unique set of circumstances led to it. This gives a story of the region and a ton of amber displays as well..

Worth visit
i work at the Amber museum but i write this reference not to advertise the museum but to make some moments clear. The exposition consists of both originals (of 3-5 cent. AC, of 17-18 cent., of the early 1930-40s, contemprorary objects) and replicas of other articles we haven't got the originals of. The largest piece of amber in Russia (4 kg) is situated in the exposition too. The ticket costs 180 rubles but there are discounts for students and free entrance at some particular days. You can take photos of the exhibits as much as you want but without flash. And the building where the museum is situated is worth visiting too as it is the 19th centure fortress. You can go to the the top of the tower to have a nice panoramic view at the city

A short visit on a rainy day
A nice museum to see the Amber of various types, with insects inside and even the replica of the Vassa ship. Not big, but on a rainy day, was a warm place to save us?
