Beautiful textiles
Nice historical collection of textiles from the area. Beautiful location and building. We saw seals in the small bay that the museum overlooks. Great selection of knitting & weaving books for sale.

A gem of a museum for anyone who loves textiles, weaving, knitting, embroidery and authentic curated clothing
I drove 3 hours out of my way to go visit this beautiful gem of a museum in north Iceland. Not only is it situated in a lovely building with a sweet view, every single thing in it is worth looking at! There are amazing weavings and other hanging textiles, curated rooms of vintage, authentic Icelandic clothing and costumes, and rooms created to show what life was like in the 19th and early 20th century. There is an area to sit and have a cup of coffee or tea, and look out the large windows at the water, or sit and peruse the many books offered to look at. There are even clean, white gloves to wear so you can handle the items, including hand knit socks and hand made shoes from 100 years ago. If you are someone who loves textile crafts, don't miss this!
