Awesome photography museum!

Visited this place together with my husband. The National Geography magazine's 50 best photos exhibition was really good and the museum premises in an old house were nostalgic.

    Small photography museum
VB is an abbreviation from Victor Barsokevitsch. He was a photographer in Kuopio who was one of the best-known photographers in Finland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His photoshop was destroyed by fire in 1893, but a new building was built on what is now the VB Photographic Center. On our visit, there was an exhibition called 'Icons - An Exhibition about the Right to Exist'. It presented interesting portraits of famous icons and archetypes.

    Compact neighborhood photographic exhibition cottage
I am a frequent visitor to Kuopio, and did a Fulbright sabbatical there in 2010-2011, and this photographic centre is just up the street from my flat on Kuopionlahdenkatu. Located in among preserved traditional wooden structures in Kuopio that escaped the ill-conceived demolition and of such buildings as part of a countrywide "modernization" push in the 1960s, this photo exhibit centre is in a re-purposed house. It is quite small, but attracts excellent photo displays of many notable and up-and-coming artists and photojournalists, like Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa and the like. Many years ago, there was also a Linda McCartney exhibit that was outstanding. New shows appear in a regular schedule. Entrance fee is a bargain at 6 euros. Highly recommended.
