The amazing Moomin Ice Cave 2020 is situated 30 meters below the surface of the earth
Moomin Ice Cave 2020 (Muumijääluola 2020) was opened on December 26th, 2019. It will be open until June 30th, 2020. It is situated in a cave 30 meters under Sport & Spa Hotel Vesileppis in Leppävirta. The distance from Kuopio in 35 minutes and from Tahko 90 minutes. You see extremely beautiful ice sculptures here. Their theme comes from Tove Jansson's Moomin books. The ice was collected from River Lainiojoki in Lapland in February and March. Then it was stored during the summer and sculptures were made in the autumn. So this is very clear natural ice from Finnish nature. Those sculptures are amazing and this place is absolutely worth of visit. The area isn't very large but I loved this ice sculpture exhibition more than the ice sculpture exhibition in Singapore. The ensemble is much more beautiful in Leppävirta. Besides, there is a snow and ice slide for children in Moomin Ice Cave. However, remember to take warm clothes with you because it is freezing cold there.
