Kuopio Museum, Northern Savonia, Finland
4.5 (49 reviews) Spent Ranking #6 in Kuopio Speciality Museums
Fully renovated museum
Kuopio Museum is located in a stunning Art Nouveau-style castle building completed in 1907 next to Snellman Park. This museum is the third oldest museum building in Finland after the Helsinki Ateneum (1887) and the Turku Art Museum (1904). The museum was closed for renovations in 2018. At the same time, the museum was connected to the adjacent library. The building connecting the Kuopio Museum and the City Library was opened to the public in February 2021. On our visit, the only exhibition was Leonardo da Vinci. The other exhibitions were still under construction. Kuopio Art Museum also has an exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci. So there was plenty the same at two different museums.

Beautiful display
A tiny museum in a beautiful building. The 2 top floors display very well all wild life of Finland. Very well suited for families with young kids. The only disadvantage is that the signs are only in Finnish. It would add a lot if the signs would be bi-lingual (Finnish-English). They have though, only on request, at the ticket office a folder with English text

Nice average size museum
Very cheap but still enjoyable museum. You can even go inside smoke cabin and imagine how people have lived then.
