It's a well

The place is bind with legends saying that this was created by Hanuman etc. Nothing to see much, only a well which is circulated by fence. It says this doesn't have a bottom. If the place is on the way for any other visit just visit here. Else no point of traveling all the way from Jaffna to see this place.

Navy discovery of the bottom bed of the Well
Visited the bottomless well on 24th June 2018. What is important now , that, of Nilavarai Bottomless well, is the recent expedition carried out by the divers of Sri Lanka Navy with an automated robot managed to find the bottom of this mysterious well at the deep of 52.5 Meters. It was further discovered several tunnels , located at different levels, which lead toward different directions. The naval expedition further revealed that the first 18.3 meters of the well contains fresh water while the water after this point is deemed to be salty as it runs down. This well is caused by collapse of the top layer, exposing a limestone cavern connected to a underground water source. The well is treated to be a rare gift of mother nature and a place of iconic importance. Only those who are interested of the marvels of ancient history and on nature will appreciate .
