I enjoyed every little bit of this museum. 95% is translated to English. There are exactly as many words as needed to feel the exhibitions. It is a very entertaining way to get acquainted with the region and its traditions. I was especially surprised by the exposition about making decorative things from gold - I would never imagine it can be so interesting and beautiful and I would spend half an hour in a room of 8 m2. I have also greatly enjoyed the temporal exhibition about a lady Fado singer from XX century, very inspiring and well organised exhibition, as well as the entire museum. Greatly reccommend.

Great Collections, Great Museum
Another Viana do Castelo treasure, the Costume Museum curates its exhibits ethnographically, so visitors view not only traditional costumes of the region but also learn their functions. Repurposed in 1997 into a museum by the municipality of Viana do Castelo from a regional office of the Banco do Portugal, the Museu do Traje also honors the bank's heritage in its basement vaults, as you can see from the final image of this post. Well worth five stars and your visit!

Great intro to Portuguese culture
A wonderful small museum founded by a local public servant. An excellent introduction to cultural dress from the region and how the fabrics were made. For the 2 euro entry fee you cannot afford not to miss it!
