Take the Six bridges cruise
The best way to admire the Douro river is taking a river cruise called "Six bridges cruise". It departs from the old town Porto riverfront - Ribeira. First it goes inland to the last bridge, turns around and sails to the Douro confluence with the Atlantic returning then to the starting point. It lasts something around an hour. Very good explanations of passing by attractions along the way with beautiful scenery on both sides of the river. Price is 15 Euros pp, if I remember correctly.

River create a unique look of Porto.
The relief and the Douro River create a unique look of Porto, which is so memorable to tourists. The river in Porto has a different appearance than, for example, in its middle course in Aldeadávila and Miranda do Douro. Due to its height and position, the most majestic view is of course from the Bridge of Luis. You can take a ride on the river. Rabelo boats dock at Plaza Ribeira or on the opposite side to the seafront at Vila Nova de Gaia. A 50-minute boat ride cost 10 euros. A day tour of Douro to Pinhão with a visit to the winery costs other money (70-80 euros).

Great day with our tour guide Bruno.
Our guide Bruno was a lot of fun, although his aggressive driving got two of our party somewhat car sick. The highlight of the day was a great lunch at a very local restaurant, Churrasqueira Pinhão, in Pinhao. Food was great, particularly the drunken cake for dessert. Lovely area.
