You'll be glad you went!

We parked at the funicular and took it to the top. It was interesting to ride the oldest operational funicular on the Iberian Peninsula. The ride is only about 5 minutes, and we chose to ride up but walk back down, so it was only 2 euros each. Seeing Bom Jesus was definitely worthwhile! The basilica is majestic, and although we could only peek inside because of a service in progress, walking around the grounds afforded spectacular views. Not only could we see the city, but also, walking back down allowed us to see the many chapels and sculptures. Looking back up from the bottom really gives you a sense of the scale and symmetry. Highly recommend!

    A Must in Braga
I took Bus 2 - Bom Jesus- from the bus station. I thought it was walking distance from the city center, but I'm glad I took the bus. I hiked from the bottom to the top of the Monument. I took my time and had to catch my breath because I have not checked in at my albergue at the city center. Around 4pm, the first half of the hike up the stairs is shaded so it nice and comfortable. Aside from the church, they also have a gift shop, cafe, ice cream shop, and keep on walking to the top (not much) to find a restaurant and a small lake where you can rent a small boat or have a picnic. I wish I had more time, but I only had 2 hours. I was able to take Bus 2 from the same spot I got off which was across the funicular queue.

    Must see in Braga
Bom Jesus is awesome and the Funicular makes the place really accessible. You can take a bus to the base and then for €3 buy a round trip ticket. Everything on top is free so it makes for a very nice inexpensive excursion
