Nice building, if you manage to enter. But interesting is also the statuary group in front which presents a history of the town.

Oulu City Hall
What strikes you, when you arrive to the City Hall is the sculpture group “The Passage of Time” by Sanna Koivisto. The work deals with the development of the economic structure of the city of Oulu through the work of people along the 400-year history of Oulu and was made to Oulu 400 years celebration. The neo-renaissance style city hall was designed by a Swedish architect Johan Erik Stenberg as the restaurant and hotel Seurahuone in 1885. The third floor was added and other major changes made in 1920 according to plans of architect Oiva Kallio.

Striking building
This neo-Renaissance stone palace was completed in 1886 as the restaurant and hotel Seurahuone. The city council moved to the house in 1921. The building has been out of operation since December 2019 due to indoor air problems. Behind the building is an interesting sculpture 'The Passage of Time'. Its bronze figures depict the development of Oulu from the 17th century to the present day.
