Impressive religious landmark
The old church from 1777 was destroyed in the big Oulu fire in 1822. The current stone cathedral was completed in 1832 over the ruins of the old church. It was made according to the neoclassical designs of the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel who also designed the Helsinki Cathedral. The interior is very beautiful.

Good for hearing aid users
This beautiful cathedral is equipped with a good hearing loop and an induction loop quality-map advises where the hearing aid users should sit to hear well: Good concerts in addition to the normal church services.

A lutheran cathedral
This is definitely not ”a typical orthodox” cathedral like someone said before. It is and has always been a lutheral cathedral. The lutheran cathedrals are far less decorative than the orthodox cathedrals anyway. :)
