Winter Wonderland

This should also come up as things to do in Ruka as you can walk, ski or take a bus here from Ruka Valley. This is what I came to Ruka for (apart from skiing) to do a husky sled ride and then a reindeer sleigh ride and feed the reindeer. Was not disappointed though I would say if your budget stretches take the longest sled ride you can. feeding the reindeer was exceptional.

Really good pancakes and husky ride
No need for booking, and that’s the way for families! This helped is a lot. Covid also makes things hard to predict, so we were so happy for this management. This place is quite safe outside place. Pancakes are heavenly. We really loved this consept. Worth of visit especially for kids age above 2.

    Husky and kids snowmobile
We booked ourselves a last minute husky ride and kids snowmobile, prices were reasonable and lots of options for longer rids but as so cold and with young children it was a perfect time. 2.5km husky ride through a lovely snowy forest which we really enjoyed, and the children had 20 minutes on the snowmobiles through a small track with trees it made a difference from just a flat circuit. The staff were lovely and very helpful my Finnish is non existent so really appreciated the effort made to speak English, it is fairly obvious where to go for most things but staff will point you in right direction. Food in cafe was nice tried doughnuts, hot chocolate, feta pie and the sausages (which kids loved as you roast yourself on the open fire) staff in cafe where really nice too. Would definitely recommend
