Monastery
A convent built between 1750-1757. The communist authorities demolished the church in 1964 and have developed a camping on its place. Subsequently, after the fall of communism, the monastery was reopened and the current church was built between 1990-1993.To reach it you have to climb(by car or by foot) a steep sinuous road, about 2,5 km long, through old woods, starting from Targu Ocna town. The lanscape is a breathtaking one. Close to it you can find Monumentul Eroilor de Pe Muntele Magura/Mount Magura Heroes' Monument.

Monastery and Monument
The original monastery was built sometime between 1750-1757 and the original wooden hermitage in 1653. The monastery was destroyed by the communists in 1964 and rebuilt in 1990. The monastery sits atop a hill at an elevation of 505 m. It's only 15 km from Slanic Moldova. The access road from the bottom of the hill to the top is about 3 km, at times quite narrow and with several hairpin curves. There's also a footpath that can be used if the weather is good. The monastery also offers low-cost accommodation (70 rooms) with kitchen access.
