Artistic and intellectual
Lovely range of art and artifacts, beautifully displayed. Some of the exhibits are intellectual absorbing as well as being lovely on the eyes. Well worth a stop. For me, a doll collector in my early days, it was amazing to see a very comprehensive display of dolls from around the world as well, as contemporary sculpture, and intriguing art of a wide range - all displayed against a brilliant white so appropriate in the Icelandic setting.

Best Art in Iceland
The natural beauty of Iceland is really the reason to visit. But on the cultural front, this wonderful museum was a real high point. The art is smart, accessible, and totally charming. Which also describes the gentleman running the museum - he took the time to tell us about the place and share his collection of fascinating toys. If you are in the Akureyri area, this should not be missed.

Outsider icelandic folk art
Found this place online and it became the must see place for our Akureyri stop. Totally worth the visit if you like quirky off the beaten path art museums. The owners have a strong sense of art and artistic display. Also the building and views out the windows enhance the experience of the space. Definitely a Icelandic folk museum and well worth the effort to get there.
