Max Ernst Museum des LVR, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

4.5 (102 reviews) Monday: Spent Ranking #4 in Bruhl Speciality Museums

Impressive exhibition of Max Ernst work

The tickets are normally 6-7 € but I paid 10,50 € because there was an exhibition of a contemporary Wilson at the moment. The audioguide costs 2€ and is worth buying because you will get the works interpretations as well as some details from the live if Ernst. There are 9 rooms the work is exhibited in, 2 downstairs and the rest upstairs. There is a lift, gift shop and a restaurant with prices 10-15€ per meal. After getting of the train it is very easy to find the museum according to the navigation tables. The exhibition includes the statues as well as paintings of Ernst. The building itself is one Ernst used to visit for dancing events. I personally like his statues, which are playful and cute. You will learn what objects Ernst was using as templates for his forms and that his main motifs were birds and fish. I recommend to visit it also with children, they might enjoy the statues.

This museum and the “ Schloss” a must to see in Brühl
Although we thougt that most of Ernst work would be in the “big “ musea all over theworld ,we were surprised by the amount of original work. All the periods of his life are there. Intersting to see how all thise surrealists influenced one another

Visit Tim Burton's exhibition if you're a fan.
Interesting museum, but I was there for "The Life of Tim Burton". This was an interesting exhibition, but I'm glad I don't have his dreams!
