So-so ok, enjoyable

You really kind of know what you’re getting when reading about this place ahead of time so it’s hard to be too disappointed. Tourist trap? Over-priced gift store? Tacky Christmas decorations? There doesn’t seem to be tons to do in the Fairbanks area (other than outdoor/nature related of course), so this was a nice little stop not requiring a far out of the way drive. It was enjoyable to see the shop. We didn’t buy much due to prices. Santa wasn’t in, but we were childless and so this was a non-issue. Overall I appreciated the Christmas theme of the city itself just as much or more so than the store.

    Fun time
We were visiting Fairbanks and had read about North Pole, AK and how cute the town was so we drove out to see the town and visit Santa Claus’ House. The town is pretty small (population 2,000) and is decorated for Christmas year round. The light posts are shaped like candy canes complete with red stripes. Santa Claus’ House is located right off the main highway and is hard to miss. There is a giant Santa, large Christmas tree and the “House” building. Reindeer stables are down the road a short distance. The “House” is a large store with toys, Christmas decorations, Made in Alaska items, clothing, candy counter and you can send letters to your kids/grandkids from Santa and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus are ready to listen to children’s wishes. We didn’t have any kids with us so we took pictures with Santa to show our grandkids. Mrs. Claus took a video of Santa telling our grandkids to mind their grandparents so they can stay on the nice list(it was a hoot and our grandkids loved it). It was really fun and they do a nice job with Christmas.
