Wellness Boerderij, North Holland Province, The Netherlands

3.0 (41 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Egmond aan den Hoef Spas

Weird but wonderful

When entering we did wonder what exactly we had booked! It is basically a house converted into a kind of a spa. We were met by the owner, Fred who was very charming and spent 4 hours there being completely spoiled. All the treatments were of a high quality and the staff were excellent. Naturally you can complain about this place because of the looks but when you are paying such a low price, what do you expect? We loved it and will return.

Top of the line Beauty Treatments
Wellness Boerderij is located in the North of Holland nestled in the middle of the farming community and only km’s from the sea. The Wellness Farm has many arrangements you can choose from. You can also stay overnight in one of the properties 7 rooms. The hotel rooms are a bit dated but also updated with new showers and tub facilities. The facility is a bit of a hodgepodge of collectibles and unique décor. (but fun to admire) The owners have done a fine job of creating private space to relax between treatments in the lounge. The actual spa facilities are of the highest of standards as are the spa’s personnel. The staff is very cordial, friendly and professional. The treatments that are offered are varied and are done by highly skilled ladies. On our visit my husband and I enjoyed the couples treatment. We had the overnight- spa arrangement. (check in is after 6:00pm the night before). A light breakfast is served in the breakfast room at an additional cost of €7,50 p.p. and is served at 8:30am. After a short introduction to the facility and services you will be called to your treatments. Between treatments you will be able to relax in the lounge area. You may also like to partake in lunch which costs from €7,50 – 12,50. You have several choices from the daily menu and they are delicious. The day was very relaxing and enjoyable. We look forward to another visit. *Be aware that the drinks that are offered between treatments are not free and are around €2,50 each which also includes small bottles of water that will be added to your overall bill. Bathrobes and slippers also may be rented at a cost of €5,00 p.p. They do not accept cash so you will have to have a credit card or pin card. The Hotel / Spa has WIFI which is not very reliable but is available. You will have to email or SMS the owner for the password. When making reservations you will be directed about check in as no one is on site at 6:00pm. Check the website for all spa packages.(http://www.wellnessboerderij.com/ ) Parking is free and on the premises. There are several restaurants nearby for dinner either in Egmond aan de hoef, Alkmaar or Egmond aan Zee.

Good for the special offer we got
We very much enjoyed the massage and facial. Everything else was unprofessional and we're just glad we weren't paying 'full price'. If you have allergies avoid this property as the walls are carpeted and the rooms are not cleaned well. Also note that the toilet and shower offer no privacy, this may not be for everyone. Shower grouting needs attention. In fact everything needs attention. The property is decorated so dark and dim lighting means at first sight you don't notice how run down and scruffy it all is. The staff were wonderful (apart from the owner who is overbearing, blunt/Dutch, read the recent reviews on Zoover and you'll get a good idea of his personal). I hope these girls get a fair wage and working environment but they all seemed a bit tired and weary of the owner. The massage and facial were done very professionally. Breakfast was mediocre and at extra cost, no fresh fruit but there were oranges for squeezing so hopefully they didn't mind me taking one instead of all the bread. Treatments taking place in the kitchen and next to the (only) toilet were less pleasant. The hygiene is lacking, blankets are reused, they don't even hide that fact when you finish in treatment room they instantly remake the beds with the towels / blankets you just got. Probably under pressure from the owner to reduce laundry and get as much done in a day as possible. We felt a good overhaul of the interior and lay out could really revive this beautiful historical building.
