The Oldest Botanical Garden of The Nehterlands

Well, with two hectares ground, it's quite nice to walk around enjoy the nature in this botanical garden. Thijsse's Hof is the oldest ( 1925 ) Botanical Garden in the Netherlands. There is a red education building on your right side as soon as you enter the garden. Well managed walking path and enough information on the field.

    The dune ecosystem preserved
Thijsse's Hof is a symbol of traditional ecosystem conservation. The botanist Jacques Thijsse collected all the indigenous plants in this small nature reserve. Plants carry labels with their names. Walk around and sit by the small natural lake. I love coming here with my mother who used to know all the names of the plants and the birds. Staff organises tours. Opening hours limited during winter months. Highly recommended. Limited parking for cars. Come by bike or leave your car in the small parking spaces along the road.

    charming garden in Bloemendaal
Hidden behind a little beautiful pancake house is Thijsse's Hof Heemtuin, a garden (2 hectare) with the native plants of Kennemerland in natural vegetations, which develop (largely) spontaneously.Quiet and lovely to wander around in.
