Part of your Spaarndam itinerary

I live locally and almost take this for granted but this statue of the boy with his finger in the dyke represents the struggle against water which is part of everyday life in this polder village. This is a great stop on a good walk around the village, do take in the Stompe Toren, de Oude Kerk as well. In fact, there is a lot of history to explore in this old village. The status is in a picturesque spot and around the corner on the little harbour there are two nice places for eating and drinking: Restaurant de Kolk and Cafe Spaarndam.
