Bike trip break with cheesecake

We followed a bike trip that stops here in the middle of the Dutch countryside. We entered the St.Nicolaas church attracted by the possibility of a tea or cake. The church is welcoming and the cheesecake is superb.

Pleasant little walk on the water and old church
This walk is nice. Nice view as you walk on the edge of the water. Boats and buildings make the mode subdued and quaint. The church was closed on the day that we were there but the walk to and from the main street was nice and relaxing.

An adorable little village in the Waterlands
We decided to stop off at this little village late on a Friday afternoon. Since it was listed in most guides of the Waterlands I expected to see plenty of people about (tourists). May because it was after 5PM on Friday or maybe because it really is off the beaten path but it appeared that there were only a few residents going about their business, coming home from work, taking kids to football practice, etc. Walking from the bus stop towards the Havenrak you pass by some adorable cottages. Past the picturesque lake towards the church you walk through a village more cottages and larger homes. If it weren't for the expensive cars in the driveways the village would look as if it was frozen in time. If taking public transport be sure to time your visit appropriately. It seem that the buses run roughly hourly.
