This part of the city of Alkmaar is transformed into the old Alkmaar of the middle ages. Highly recommended for a visit!

Back to Medieval time
Cost 4,50euro per entry but it is worth it. All the clothing, make-up and act from the whole organisation was great. The older boats parked at the canal are eye-opening. So happened this year (2019) the weather was sunny and crowd is great.

great spectacle of street theatre recreating 1573 with hundreds of amateur actors
Men, women and children all in historic costumes and some of them wore make-up deliberately suggesting that they had fought in a war or had ugly sores. There were musicians walking in the parade as well. Great spectacle! It is once a year though in the first half of June on a Saturday-Sunday combination. It is not the same days every year.
