Grote Kerk Schagen, North Holland Province, The Netherlands

A Grandeous Religious Achitectural Landmark
It is a protestant church at the heart of the city of Schagen. We passed by this city and took a short stop for a rest and a coffee. The place is usually filled with people specially so that restaurants and other establishments were just around. I see that this is the meeting place of the Schagen folks.

true one and only landmark of the city of Schagen
The 'Grote Kerk Schagen' (Big Church of Schagen) is the tru one and only landmark monumental building of the city of Schagen. The church is a real monument. It was first built just before 1900. Partly destroyed by fire and rebuilt/renovated on several occasions. The last big restauration was in 1978. The building is in active use by the protestant church for religious services, weddings and other gatherings. Outside of the church activities the building can be visited on certain times, like the 'Open Monument Day' every year. It is worth your time. The building is interesting on the outside and has a serene calmness inside, mainly because of the (lack of) use of color (predominantly white walls). It is beautiful.
