Landmark municipal hall
Gemeentehuis (community house / city hall) Heerhugowaard dates from 1982. At the moment the still functioning hall is the scene of a large building project with a new city square next to it and a brand new library. Dijk en Waard is the name of the new municipality which includes some villages in the surroundings (total population - 87000). For those interested in modern architecture and city planning go and have a look at the new city that arose in the polders of North Holland.
