Sculptures Park in The Dunes

This site is located next to the Tata steel factory, and probably that was also the sponsor of this sulpture park. Most of the artwork are abstract. It's quite nice to see, also up close but you need to walk on the sand and it was not always easy. There is a good path for the wheelchair so you can see it from a distance. It is quite special. It is open 24/7.

    A complete new experience
Sculpture parks are only a few in the Netherlands and then run as part of a museum, gallery or artist’s garden. Een ‘zee van staal’, literally ‘a sea of steel’, is open to the public at all hours. The setting is a landscaped terrain in the dunes. After the drought of this 2018 summer everything looks straw yellow. In the background is the huge, steaming TaTa steel factory. Sculptures, you may read elsewhere were made at Tata from their steel by a dozen of European artists as part of the cultural European programme. Having these red rust sculptures creates a strange ensemble. They are robust, industrial and mostly larger than human size. Liking is not an appropriate expression here, but they do form a extra ordinary experience to the visitor. Tip: visit the website and print the plan of the park with the list of sculptures and artists.

    Surreal!
With the background of Tata steel, it is the perfect location to have a sculpture park like this in this area. Great to climb the different sculptures.
