Exteriorly Stunning; Interiorly Confusing and “Ordinary”
I stepped in and out of Amsterdam Centraal many times when I visited the city, mainly to use the subway. I loved admiring the facility from the outside. The architecture is quite something! Grand, majestic, stately—I could go on and on with adjectives to describe the looks of this marvel. Such a wonderful part of historic Amsterdam. So knowing how much I enjoyed it from a distance, entering for the first time was disappointing. Maybe I didn’t have time to look, but I just couldn’t find anything special or truly unique to Amsterdam inside. I would’ve been ok without any interesting Amsterdam-specific features, had the signage and layout been adequate. This was certainly my very first time navigating the city, so I wasn’t an expert by any means, but I missed a few trains after trying to find the elevators to get to the right platform to board the right train…it’s busy, it’s big, and it requires a level of familiarity I didn’t yet have. Signage should be better. (And like in all places, use caution at night—I arrived into the city late and a few sketchy folks were roaming the platforms. Hoping these people can get mental health treatment in a good city like Amsterdam.) All in all, I would come back to take photos of the outside, but I would choose alternate methods of inner-city transportation next time to avoid having to go inside.

Station with good public transportation, but the passages are closed a bit early
A station with good connection to the public transportation like metro, bus, ferry and train. Some shops and also a convenience store. You can get the pltic card (for check-in and check-ouy) at the big yellow machines, which also give the normal train tickets, it cost 7.5euros, you can charge the amount up, as much as you like, but to get onto the train you need at least 20euros on it. Something a bit weird is that the passages are only open from 11am to 9pm, so be careful of that, otherwise you have to walk around it.
