Wonderful beach just a bike ride from Haarlem
We biked from Haarlem to Bloemendaal aan Zee twice during our stay in Haarlem. Loved the beach, which was much less crowded than Zandvoort, and enjoyed a great meal at San Blas. Recommend biking through the Zuid-Kennemerland national park or, for a longer bike ride, look up the Haarlem Dunes Cycle Route (40 km) which will take you a more meandering way to the coast via some more rural areas with animals, windmills, and even the ruins of a castle...goes through the national park as you get closer to the beach.

Go ride your bike or hike through a gorgeous nature preserve. This trendy neighborhood is a short train ride from Amsterdam. Stroll on the main street, rent a bike and go. You can bike to the beach in 20 minutes or less.

For me Bloemendaal is the starting point of a pleasant bike tour across it,s nature reserve to it,s lively party-beach: BLOEMENDAAL AAN ZEE.,takes about 45 minutes from BLOEMENDAAL to it's beach on bike. GEMEENTE BLOEMENDAAL has an attractive small historic village centre and up-scale residences in the wooded area reaching from AERDENHOUT-OVERVEEN-north to BLOEMENDAAL. KRAANTJE LEK is an historic 17th century restaurant and ELSWOUT a historic landscaped park. VOGELMEER an birdwatching area in the dunes; halfway between village and it,s beach in the nature reserve
