Worth a visit
I travelled from Amsterdam central to Alkmaar via train for a AZ vs Venlo match. After getting off the train we headed to the opposite side of the train tracks from the bus station to catch the free shuttle bus to the ground, which took around 10 minutes. It feels like a new, tidy stadium, with friendly fans and staff. We had to load money onto a prepay card to purchase drinks, which you can take back to your seat, unlike the UK. After the match we caught the shuttle bus back from the exact location it dropped us off. Well worth a visit if your in the area.

Nice place to watch Football
From Alkmaar it is close and on the way to Amsterdam esp Schiphol Airport. Nice sports facility. Can carry food and drinks to seat, banned in many stadia around the world.

A fantastic dayout for all football fans
We were staying in Amsterdam , wanted to see a Dutch game. Travelled up to alkmaar. Had a few drinks in alkmaar town centre, Then travelled to the game. Easy to get tickets, decent atmosphere and relaxed atmosphere. Nice Stadium. Can even take beers to your seat. AZ Alkmaar won 4-2 in a thrilling game. A perfect day for a drinker and a football fan.
