    Wonderful Piece of History
We stopped over near Bayeux on our way to Brittany from Calais and just had to visit the famous Tapestry museum while in town (by the way Bayeux is lovely and worth spending a few hours to explore other museums/attractions and shops). The museum building is quite interesting in itself and their main exhibit is displayed behind glass, so that you can get close up to this wonderful artefact. A hand held audio guide is usefully included in the E9.50 admission price and the commentary takes visitors through the story of William and Harold's feud. This is very informative and also ensures that people keep moving as they follow the story along the tapestry's full length. Overall well worth a leisurely hour or so and, while it's not the main reason for visiting, the museum gift shop is very good if you want a memento or two.

    Great to see
Well organised museum with an audio guide which talks you through the various sections of the tapestry. Much bigger than I expected in real life. As some others has mentioned, it can get quite busy and it would be more enjoyable if a few less people were let in at any any one time. Queues were not long but it took ages to buy a ticket as a member of staff was playing on their phone instead of serving customers meaning everyone was queuing at one desk instead of two. I would buy tickets online if going in Peak summer as I supext even with two desks, it would be slow moving. Otherwise a good experience and a must see if you are in this area of Normandy.
