Great museum housed in 18th century building

For me one of the best place in Lefkosia. This manor house is one of the most important surviving 18th century buildings in Lefkosia. The former residence of the most prominent Dragoman of Cyprus, Hatzigeorgakis Kornesios, now house the two-storey museum. You can see the kitchen, reception rooms, bedrooms, rooms with carved wooden, gilded and painted decoration, traditional clothing, coins, the aspects of former every day life I took nice break at a central garden with a fountain and a private Hammam. Even the web pages and some guides say entry 2,50€ the entrance was for free, There are some boards with the English description.

Kornesios mansion
This mansion is a nice example of old/traditional architecture of Cyprus. Most of the attractions are on the top floor, including bedroom, clothe samples, traditional pottery and jewelery.

An indicative upper class mansion of the late 18th century in Cyprus
Hatjigeorgakis Kornesios was an official interpreter of the council of the Ottoman Sultan for 30 years. As a result he was in a very important position for the local community of Cyprus and his power and way of living is reflected to his house that remains today (renovated and opened to the public) and it is an indicative upper class mansion of the late 18th, early 19th century of the Ottoman Era of Cyprus. The visitor can have an idea about several aspects of every day's life of that time by wandering in the rooms and grounds. An important detail for the architecture of that time -and it is obvious here- is the ability of observation of who is coming to the house, who is passing by near the house and once entered the house, privacy to be guaranteed and convenience -given the fact of the hot climate of Cyprus- to be provided.
