PRETTY STRIP PARK EN ROUTE TO PLUM ISLAND
On a visit to Newburyport, I was driving out to Plum Island; and, as I passed Joppa Park, I saw someone walking there. Before then, I never realized that there was a walking area there. Luckily, on this day, there was an available parking space at the end of the park. Although relatively small, this riverfront strip park has several things to offer. First, it has a brick-paved walkway along a riverside cement wall. Also, on the other side near the sidewalk outside the park there are lots of regular rose bushes - not wild sea roses. At the far end, there a bench. A local couple was enjoying taking a rest during their walk. Another point of interest is an Info board about clamming in Joppa Flats. Then, there are the scenic views of the Merrimack River and all the boats at anchor. I enjoyed my walk in this small, pretty park. I rate Joppa Park at 4.0 and can recommend a visit.
