    Great, friendly ski resort
I've skied at Swain, 55 miles from home, for several years. I was out last year due to a torn Achilles so I made up for it this year. More than 600 runs this year, and I still enjoy going. The runs are challenging even thought they're rather short, and I've never felt a lack of variety. The lifts get you to the top in 6-8 minutes. It's NY, so, yes, it gets icy, but they groom every night, so if you get there early, the snow is usually nice. Every Friday evening they have 4 hours of Nastar racing for $15. The lift lines are virtually non existent, and the lift operators quickly get to know you, so there's not a constant checking of lift tickets. You can take your gear inside to change, which is quite convenient. The cafeteria has decent, reasonably priced food, and the main restaurant is great. The ski shop has a really good selection of gear and clothing. Friendly is the best one word description for Swain.

    Return after 10 years.
First time in a long time. Came here with a ski group. Nice little resort with a good variety of slopes. The lifts were a bit slower than I am used to. The restaurant had good food and a nice variety of drafts. We had a great time and staff was very accommodating and friendly.
