A Rare Gem

An awesome throwback place, with no pretentiousness. With the warm temps we have been having and low accumulation, the trails were in excellent condition. The area is so quite and beautifully majestic. The owners/workers were really kind and helpful. Even though the lodge is dated, it is warm and inviting with a wood burning fireplace. The rentals worked great. My only thought would be is there is no food or drinks, available for purchase. If you want to make a day of it you will need to bring your own food and beverages. With that being said; with the limited amount of operating days available to this gem, it’s understandable why they don’t bother with food service. I love this place! Will definitely be back.

Perfect Trail Conditions and Spectacular Setting
I took advantage of today's big snowstorm and drove out to Pineridge Cross-Country Ski Area late in the morning once the sleet had changed back to snow. It was still snowing at a moderate rate when I arrived and they had just groomed a number of the trails. A hand-full of skiers were already out skiing. I skied for about 2 hours and the trail conditions were absolutely perfect. By that time the snow had become lighter and intermittent with a few glimpses of the sun. The combination of snow, then sleet and freezing rain, they had in this area overnight and in the early morning had left the numerous balsam fur and hemlock trees frosted in a spectacular manner. I have visited this ski area a number of times over the years and always had a great experience. I highly recommend it for both beginning and intermediate level cross-country skiers.

    Great Place to ski
This is my favorite place to ski in the Capital District and it is very scenic and there is a great variety of terrain. You can ski in the woods, along the Poestenkill, and climb to get a great view of the surrounding area. It's a good place to buy your skis too as you get good advice and a far deal from the owner.
