Excellent Experience on the Lake
Scott and his team were excellent and provided an absolute first rate experience from start to finish. He kept us updated on weather conditions leading up to our boat trip, had some great advice on where to go, and was generally just a really cool guy. The facility is very clean and well ordered, in general, you can tell why they have been in business for almost 100 years. The boats are well maintained and in excellent condition and their pricing seemed to be a better than some outlet outfits I looked at. I am a boat owner myself and I would wholeheartedly recommend these guys to anyone visiting Lake George looking to get out on the water.

Best service and boats on the lake!
I have been coming to Lake George for 20 years and have rented from most of the marinas on the west side of the lake. FR Smith has the best service and the best boats on the lake, hands down. We reserved our boat (3 day rental) a couple of weeks in advance of our trip. When we checked in on the first day, we were greeted by their extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff who handled all of the necessary paperwork and safety instructions quickly and easily. We were on the water within no time, and loved our 3 days with an 18’ bow rider with a 115hp outboard engine. We were given maps to to find places to dock/dine or picnic, as well as a great spot to tie up to a mourning and just relax. Each night we returned the boat to the marina, but we did have the option to keep the boat and dock it elsewhere. The drop offs and pick ups were effortless. Big “PROPS” (pun intended) to Marie who remembered us every time we came and went. She even personally moved boats out of the way to help us get on the water quicker each morning. Little things like that go a long way. Such great customer service! Suffice it to say, we will now only rent from FR Smith & Sons Marina!

First time out on a lake and a boat
This place is a short walk from the Sagamore Resort and the hotel provides shuttle service. We had a lovely time and rented a small 70 horsepower boat to go on the lake with our 2 young children. They had infant life vests for our kids <30lbs. They were super helpful and explained everything to us as this was our first time on a boat. We luckily got a newer boat and the boat was very clean and nice I would suggest reserving if possible because we had called earlier during breakfast and there were a lot of boats available but by the time we got there (our 3 and 2 year old are very hard to motivate) there was only 1 boat left! We had a lovely time on the lake and would highly recommend this place but just make sure you call before you head over as the demand for boats can be quite unpredictable!
